The Blessings I didn’t know I wanted

“I’m not getting married again! I’m not having any more kids. I’m not going to love again, and I’m not letting anyone love me.”

That is what I told myself after my divorce, and I meant it. But God had His plan and He didn’t care what I told myself.

“Can I help you with your baggage?”

“No thanks, I’m okay.”

“OH! I’m Helping You. Let me see your ticket.” as he reached and took my baggage claim ticket from my hand… “I’ll be right back.” he said and walked away.

That was the first interaction…

“So are you gonna give me your number or is the guy picking you up gonna tip me?”…. And that is how he asked me for my number…

And as they say… The rest is history…

And nearly 18 years later… I, for some reason feel led to tell my business so I can share the Word of God.

Marriage is a blessing. It is a blessing if you can keep it, if you can work it out. Sometimes it is beyond our control however a lot of times we have more control than we think. The control we have is self-control and if we can humble ourselves and master this, it can change everything. And of course we have to do it with Christ, because apart from Him we can do nothing. (John 15:5)

I love being a wife. And I love being a mom. I just thought I didn’t want it again because I didn’t want the devastation of losing it again. I would have lost my family (again) had I not learned to have self control, and continue to exercise it. I’m learning That if I control my mouth, my attitude, my temper, my thoughts and where I let them go, if I can control where I contribute to the problem, then The Problem can get dealt with (eventually).

Self-control… the ability to control oneself. How many of us “try” to have self-control and fail? I still fail at least once a week, (I’m only like 10 years old in Christ so I still have a lot of growth to do). And all it takes for the enemy to work is just one slip up. One slip up and the enemy is devouring you and your relationship.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith… -1 Peter 5:6-9a

Devour- to swallow or eat up hungrily, voraciously, or ravenously. To consume destructively, recklessly… does that sound familiar? You ever had an argument that was destructive? Ever?

We get self-control from the Holy Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. -Galatians 5:22,23

What a blessing it is to be able to have self-control and not have to live by my feelings. I’m only able to have self-control with the help of my Savior, Jesus Christ! What a blessing it is to know Jesus!

What A Blessing It Is To Know Jesus! What a blessing it is to know God! What a blessing it is to know my Creator! What a blessing it is to know my Heavenly Father! What a blessing it is to know the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit is The Spirit of God. He is everything to us. He is our provider. He is our comforter. He is our guide. He is our healer. He is our redeemer. He is our friend and He wants a relationship with us.

God wants a relationship with us so He can show us His plan for our lives. He wants to bless us!!! But He can’t bless us like He wants to if we don’t want a relationship with Him.

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.” declares the Lord. -Jeremiah 29:11-14

WHAT A BLESSING THAT IS! That IS a promise from God!

I’ve been blessed with another family. I’ve been blessed by being born again. And I am so blessed to be able to share the Good News that we have a Savior!!
